Free Online Shared Lives Training: Become a Foster Carer
Overview
CASPA’s Shared Lives Training gives you the tools you need to be a safe and consistent adult for young people in out-of-home care.
Are you considering opening your home to one of the 14,000 children in out-of-home care in NSW? Join the CASPA village and learn how to be a trauma-informed away-from-home home that can support young people to thrive.
We know life can be busy. That's why we've transformed the usual two day, in-person workshop into an accessible online program, delivered in the evening over four sessions. To become an accredited carer in NSW, you will need to complete all four sessions in order.
Session 1: Tuesday 18 August 2026
Session 2: Friday 21 August 2026
Session 3: Tuesday 25 August 2026
Session 4: Friday 28 August 2026
Time: 9:30am-12:30pm AEST
Location: Online
Cost: Free (A cost of $250.00 will be charged to DCJ for DCJ participants post training)
CASPA’s Shared Lives Training is a chance to learn everything you need to know about foster care and what it means to be a safe and consistent adult for a child or young person in out-of-home care. This program is an opportunity to debunk common foster care myths while gaining insights into education, trauma and childhood development. Upon completing your final session, you will not only be on your way to being an authorised carer in NSW, but you will also have a deeper understanding of the challenges, rewards, rights and responsibilities you will encounter.
Our training is open to potential carers from any agency across NSW and fills up quickly. Please notify us if you are unable to attend so we can give your spot to someone else. You can send us an email at caspafostercare@caspa.org.au or call us on 1300 227 722.
CASPA will reach out to you before the event via email, so keep an eye on your inbox.
We look forward to meeting you!
