Free Introduction to Mindfulness (MBCT-Inspired)

New Farm LibraryNew Farm, QLD
Saturday, Feb 14 from 1 pm to 2 pm AEST
Overview

Join us for a rejuvenating intro to mindfulness, to learn guided practices and practical skills to ease your mind!

Introduction to Mindfulness (MBCT-Inspired)

Looking for a simple, supportive introduction to mindfulness?
This free community session offers a warm, beginner-friendly way to learn practical skills that support emotional and mental wellbeing. No experience is needed.

The session draws inspiration from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) — a widely respected, research-supported approach developed by teams at the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, and later expanded through training and research at the Brown University Mindfulness Center in the United States.

Everything is presented in clear, everyday language though, with no jargon or spiritual framing. The focus is on practical skills, not therapy.

What We'll Do:
During this one-hour session, we’ll explore practical mindfulness skills that you can start using straight away, including:
Mindfulness of breath — steadying attention and settling the mind
Mindfulness of the body — noticing physical sensations with curiosity
Present-moment awareness — reconnecting with what’s happening right now
Gentle reflection — space for insights, questions, or observations
We’ll also briefly discuss how MBCT uses these practices to support emotional steadiness, resilience, and everyday wellbeing.

What to Bring:
A cushion if you prefer to sit on the floor
Comfortable clothing
Chairs are provided
Water bottle (optional)
Nothing else is required — just come as you are!
