Description

Are welfare reforms causing more harm than good? The recent Federal Budget saw an increase in social security conditions, raising concerns among the community services sector.

Research has shown that restricting access to social security does not enable greater workforce participation or wellbeing but further entrenches disadvantage, especially for women.

You're invited to join public policy experts and people with lived experience at the 2017 Anti-Poverty Week Forum "Picking up the Pieces".

Together, we will discuss the consequences of increased social security conditionality and what needs to be done to pick up the pieces and disrupt cycles of disadvantage.

With guest speakers:
Mr Daniel Mulino MLC (Parliamentary Secretary for Treasury and Finance)
Dr Cassandra Goldie (CEO, ACOSS)
Ciara Sterling (Head of Community Inclusion, Yarra Valley Water)
David Tennant (CEO, FamilyCare)
With special video presentation from leading UK welfare researcher
Peter Dwyer (Professor of Social Policy, University of York)
plus many more!
