The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture is a joint venture between the University of Tasmania and the Tasmanian Government.This partnership has brought together the human and physical resources of the Tasmanian Government with the scientific research and teaching capacity of the University of Tasmania to create a centre of excellence in agricultural research, development, extension, education and training.

Tasmanian Vegetable Research Facility

The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) invites you to the Forthside Vegetable Research Facility on Wednesday 3rd November.In the morning you will hear from researchers and industry innovators, and discover the smart technology in use on the farm. After a free lunch, walk the farm to see the wide range of research trials run by TIA and industry.Some of the mornings topics include:<ul><li>Technology on the farm</li><li>Hemp for forage</li><li>Traditional Chinese herbs </li><li>Smart farming</li><li>Know what you are growing </li></ul>The Forthside Vegetable Research Facility, based within the major vegetable cropping region of North-West Tasmania, is an invaluable site for a diverse range of vegetable and allied crop research trials.The farm showcases SMARTFarm technology, where on-farm devices provide a proof-of-concept for farmers who can see firsthand how new technologies can help create efficiencies and improve environmental outcomes.
