You will gain practical skills in creating a variety of floral arrangements for the home or as gifts, while learning how to select, prepare, and care for flowers and foliage sourced from your garden, local markets, or floristry suppliers. Each session combines demonstration, discussion, and guided practice, allowing you to explore different arrangement styles, such as hand-tied bunches, posies, feature displays, and table centrepieces.

With an emphasis on creativity and confidence building, this short course is ideal for those wanting to explore floral design for personal enjoyment or as a pathway to further study in floristry. This is a non-accredited short course.

Eligibility and entry requirements

To enrol in this course, you must be aged 17 years or older, and be one of the following: 

  • an Australian citizen or permanent resident 
  • a New Zealand citizen 
  • the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa 


Delivery mode

  • Face-to-face course delivered on-campus over 6 weeks (3 hours per week)


What you will learn

  • How to design and assemble a variety of floral arrangements, such as hand-tied bunches, posies, and table centrepieces.
  • Identifying, selecting, and caring for a range of flowers and foliage.
  • Sourcing materials from gardens, markets, and suppliers for creative projects.
  • Using floristry tools and safe working practices in a floristry workshop environment.
