Location

Description

THE FIRST Tech CHallenge (FTC) is designed for high school students to compete head to head, using a sports model. Teams are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and is programmed using a variety of languages. Teams, including coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments.

The FIRST Tech Challenge has started to join its siblings FRC and FLL in Australia.

Representatives from FIRST Australia will be here to give you the benefit of their experience with FIRST more generally, and the FIRST Tech Challenge specifically.

This session is designed for secondary school teachers, community group organisers or parents.

(NOTE - This session takes place on the same day as the WA 2015 FIRST LEGO League Tournament takes at Curtin, so you will in fact be able to find out about 2 FIRST events at the same time, but the FIRST LEGO League is designed for slightly younger children i.e. upper primary and lower secondary.)
