Finding Balance - Handling Life’s Pressures and Regulating Intense Emotions
Finding Balance offers a space to connect, learn, and grow alongside other students.
We strongly encourage students to enrol in only one group program at a time. Each program involves a significant amount of new information, learning, and personal reflection, and full attendance across all sessions is recommended to gain the most benefit. Taking part in multiple programs simultaneously can feel overwhelming for many students.
Life doesn’t slow down just because you’re studying. Between classes, work, relationships, and everything else going on, it’s easy to feel stressed, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained. Finding Balance is a supportive small‑group program designed to help you build practical skills to stay calm, manage stress, and feel more grounded—both on campus and in everyday life.
Based in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), this four‑week series will help you:
· Understand and regulate strong emotions
· Cope more effectively with stress and high‑pressure situations
· Build resilience, focus, and confidence to support your overall wellbeing
Whether you're juggling competing demands, dealing with big emotions, or simply wanting to feel more in control of your day‑to‑day life, Finding Balance offers a space to connect, learn, and grow alongside other students.
Program details:
Dates: Tuesdays (3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th March)
Time: 10am-12pm
Group size: Maximum 12 participants
Commitment: To get the full benefits of the program, attendance at all four sessions is strongly encouraged
Facilitators:
This group is facilitated by two caring and experienced staff members of ANU Health and Wellbeing Services: Qianwen (she/her) and Courtney (she/her). Qianwen is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker at the ANU Counselling Centre, and Courtney is a Case Manager with the Student Safety and Wellbeing Team.
