Blacktown City Libraries' Film Club 2022 Program

About this event

During the 1890s gold rush a young Afghan cameleer is coerced into partnering with a mysterious bushman, (David Wenham), carrying stolen gold bars. They must evade police and travel to a hidden bush furnace where the mark of the Crown can be removed. This film casts light on the role of Muslim and Sikh men from India, Afghanistan and Persia who transported essential goods through the vast deserts of Australia and formed unique bonds with the indigenous peoples.
