A Horticultural History of Mount Macedon in the Late 19th-Century.
Discover how one of Australia's most significant late 19th-century garden landscapes began. , explores deforestation, plant-hunting movements, and the botanical ideas that shaped Mount Macedon. Made in collaboration with the Gisborne and Mount Macedon District Historical Society, the film draws on local archival photographs, maps, and records. Highlights include a local arborist climbing a towering sequoia, visiting a 150-year-old garden and the former home of botanical artist Ellis Rowan, and insights from our local horticulturalist, Stephen Ryan. Join us for a screening and discussion with film collaborators.
