This field day is about practical fencing and understanding how to use fencing to maximise the productivity of your land. Our guest speaker is Andy Taylor, Land Services Officer - Rural Landscapes Program from South East Local Land Services. Andy will join us to discuss land capability, fencing for livestock, erosion control, riparian fencing and fencing for wildlife. There will also be a hands on fencing demonstration.

Based in Braidwood, Andy has worked on revegetation and landcare projects for several years. With the Rural Landscapes Program he is engaging landholders in projects that identify and repair erosion. He also helps develop grazing management plans through the design of new paddocks and water infrastructure. The ultimate goal of his work is to improve on farm productivity and water quality now and into the future. Andy runs a small farm so he understands the challenges of managing small holdings.

Also joining us is Shane Laverty. Shane supervises on-ground erosion projects for the South East Local Land Services Rural Landscapes Program and is a farmer with years of fencing experience and knowledge. Shane and Andy will be leading the practical fencing demonstration.

Other topics discussed on the day will include what to ask a fencing contractor and cost effective fence repair. Come and learn the tricks of the trade from two impartial professionals with nothing to sell and lots of knowledge to share. Ask questions, get your hands dirty and get involved in practical farming.

The ticket price is $ 25.00 (plus booking fee $ 2.12). Morning tea and lunch are provided.

This event is not suitable for children and please leave your dogs at home.

This cost of this field day is subsidised by funding from the Australian Government.

Refunds are only available up until one week prior to the field day. Please let us know if you decide that you cannot attend so that we can release your place to someone on the waitlist. You need to contact us to arrange a refund.
