Do I need to know about art or collage?

Not at all! Collage is one of the secret sneaky ways into creating visually appealing imagery. Anyone can do it and feel fairly pleased with the results at the end of a session.All abilities welcome!

Can I come to just one session to trial it?

Yes, of course. We encourage it. Although returning over time will give you a greater sense of the continuity of creating, a one-off session can provide a taster from which you can decide if it’s for you!

Will you have any other dates available? Like day-time sessions?

Yes, certainly. Please let us know what day/s might suit you and we will see if we can work something out.

Would you consider holding a collage craft party for a private group or office bonding exercise?

Certainly. Please let us know dates and numbers and we can work out something for you.

Skye is a registered art therapist and successful illustrator. Skye has worked in almost every medium over the span of her career and maintains a deep interest in collage. ‘It allows so much to be said in a small space. It is really the most accessible and I think the most intriguing art form.’

Overview

Come and explore the adaptive medium of collage in a semi-structured series of sessions. Skye is a registered Art Therapist and artist.

The collage club is an ongoing series of semi-structured meet-ups at a wonderful venue in Leichhardt, STUDIO INNER WEST.

At the collage club, all are welcome to discover and enjoy the vast possibilities inherent in this medium.

Each month we will explore different methods, themes and aspects of creating unique collage artworks. A variety of different collage artist's work will be introduced for you to investigate along with plenty of visual stimulation through books and selected imagery.

Sessions will be semi-guided in the sense that you can feel free to know there is an experienced mentor onboard but that you are also free to travel down your own rabbit-hole if that better suits. We may occasionally work to a theme which can be suggested by group members.

All materials like imagery and ephemera/papers are provided. However, do feel free to bring along anything personally evocative for you.

We will tackle the basics of 2D collage composition and work our way to 3D, incorporating found objects and creating narrative dioramas. Various approaches will be explored, encouraged - and discovered!

A small, diverse group will offer good company and constructive feedback.
