Farm Dam Enhancement Workshop
Learn how farm dams boost productivity, improve water & biodiversity, and cut emissions at our upcoming field day.
Join us for an informative field day with Dr Martino Malerba, who will share his research and insights into how farm dams can play a key role in building healthier, more sustainable farms. The session will begin with a presentation, followed by a guided walk to a dam to see practical examples in action.
Learn how to enhance dam design and management, reduce methane emissions, and improve water quality – while also boosting farm productivity, biodiversity, and habitat outcomes.
This session will provide:
- A community update on sustainability practices
- Insights into reducing greenhouse gas emissions through dam management
- Real-world examples of how farm dams support both production and wildlife
About the Presenter
Dr Malerba leads a team of researchers studying freshwater wetlands – both natural (e.g., wetlands) and artificial (e.g., farm dams, reservoirs, wastewater lagoons). His projects include determining the carbon and biodiversity benefits of restoring natural wetlands through revegetation and environmental watering, and testing floating wetlands for emission reduction in wastewater ponds.
Whether you’re a landholder, community member, or simply interested in sustainable farming, this field day offers valuable knowledge and the chance to connect with others passionate about caring for our landscapes.
