Event description

Description

Join us at the Powerhouse Museum - Museum of Arts and Applied Science (MAAS) on Wednesday 10 April 2019 to see New South Wales based early career researchers tell their amazing science stories live and free, as semi-finalists.

You’ll see some of the Country’s brightest minds tell their science stories in just three minutes or less with no props, no jargon, and no PowerPoint. On the night, 13 brilliant researchers take to the stage to deliver short and sharp tales of their work explaining why their work matters to the world in order to become the next FameLab champion.

FameLab is the world’s leading science communication competition created by Cheltenham Festivals in the UK. The global competition finds and mentors young STEM – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – researchers with a knack for communication to share their stories with the world.

Contestants are armed only with their wits and a few props to describe their research – the result is an unpredictable, enlightening and exciting way to encourage curiosity and find out about the latest research.

In 2019, FameLab is produced in Australia by the Foundation for the WA Museum with international partner the British Council and national founding partner, the WA Museum.
