This includes changes to the Victorian Local Government Act to mandate deliberative engagement practice, the NSW Government producing a deliberative democracy toolkit, and the increasing number of local councils and utilities making use of citizens&#x27; panels or juries in their long-term strategic planning.T﻿his facilitation masterclass and immersive event are the first of their kind in the world. Our aim is to cultivate a wave of leading facilitators who can meet this growing demand and potential for democratic innovation in Australia.T﻿his event is to register your place in our 2-day immersive or 3-day facilitation masterclass (registering for the 3-day masterclass secures your place in the 2-day immersive)The 2-day immersive is for community engagement practitioners, elected members and decision-makers who want to find out how deliberative democracy works. It will take the form of an intensive citizens&#x27; assembly experience that covers what it is like to be part of a deliberative engagement project. You&#x27;ll experience small group work, information interrogation, and group decision making all while tackling the question of &quot;How can citizens make a meaningful and fulfilling contribution to public decisions?&quot;The additional 3-day facilitation masterclass is for facilitators who wish to be fully equipped to facilitate citizens&#x27; assemblies to the highest standard. This will take facilitators who have experienced the 2-day immersive and take them through a masterclass in how to design and facilitate deliberative engagement projects. You will learn from world-leading facilitators and project designers. Purchasing a ticket secures your place.F﻿or those wanting to learn a bit about citizens&#x27; assemblies you will come in for a 2-day immersive. The assembly gathered for this training opportunity will be exploring a question many attendees may find relevant to their day jobs: How can citizens make a meaningful and fulfilling contribution to public decisions?You will be working together in small groups, simulating a citizens’ assembly experience, in order to hear diverse and contested views and see where you can find common ground on answers.This will also be a training event for facilitators learning how the process works. This means those attending will also get an inside look at how the facilitation works – while also enjoying the benefit of discussing a question directly relevant to making citizen involvement better.3-day facilitation masterclassW﻿hen: Wednesday, 22nd – Friday, 24th February 2023W﻿here: Melbourne CBDC﻿ost: $2000 (includes meals and materials, and 2-day immersive ticket)Registration: There are 8 places available. Purchasing a ticket secures your place in both the 2-day immersive and the masterclass.T﻿hese 3 days unpack the facilitation methods and processes for facilitators who want to become masters in this form of engagement.Y﻿ou will step through each method and process, understand the purpose behind each one, see different variations of each method, and practice the approaches. Following the 3 days of training, you will get personalised support from MosaicLab master deliberation facilitators and have both an opportunity and an expectation to co-facilitate a 3-4 day live deliberation alongside MosaicLab.
