Description

New and independent Visitor Economy Taskforce

A new and independent Visitor Economy Taskforce, comprising John Hartigan (Chair), Russell Balding AO, Hon Bruce Baird AM, Robbie Sefton and Simon McGrath, to undertake a mid-term review of the State’s tourism strategic plan, the NSW Visitor Economy Industry Action Plan (VEIAP).

The review will build on the 2012 NSW Visitor Economy Industry Action Plan and the subsequent achievements of government and industry partners in the last five years.

Undertaking a review of the VEIAP and re-engaging with industry and key stakeholders at this stage of implementation will allow Government to refine the focus of the VEIAP strategic imperatives.

This will ensure NSW can prioritise initiatives and actions that will deliver the greatest benefit to the State’s visitor economy, achieve $36.6 billion in overnight visitor expenditure by 2020, and sustain continued growth in the NSW visitor economy beyond 2020.

Have your say

To achieve this, the Visitor Economy Taskforce will undertake extensive stakeholder engagement and consultation across relevant tourism industry sectors, and within metropolitan and rural and regional NSW throughout November to December 2017. If you are interested in attending one of our consultations, please register an expression of interest.

Consultation dates: 1 November - 7 December 2017
