Event description

Description

Expression of interest for Champagne tasting.

I need 40 people (10 people per session for 4 sessions) to taste French Champagne and share their opinions...

This is not a trick! It's for some research I am doing (see info below for background). In this experiment, you will be sampling French Champagne and examining different tastes over time. This is the first experiment of its type to have been run in the world.

The criteria to participate are as follows:

1. Be over the age of 18.

2. Drink sparkling wine or champagne at least twice in the past 12 months.

3. Have a well working nose and taste buds (and not be blocked up with a cold etc).

4. Have a smart phone or tablet with internet access (your own access - no wifi available) and know how to use it.

5. Be available for the session dates and times you select.

6. Not eat, drink, smoke, chew gum, brush your teeth etc 30 minutes before arriving at the session.

If you are interested and available, please register. I need to run them in clusters with at least 8 people per session. You will then be asked some questions to ensure you're eligible for this study.

Thanks for your support!

Why?

In October 2016 I attended a course in France that changed my life.

This course was held at Le Cordon Bleu (Paris) and the Universtiy of Champagne-Ardenne. It covered all things food and champagne from history to culture and science to law.

To complete my course (and graduate with a diploma) I need to complete a research thesis. This study is the main focus of my thesis. Thank you for helping me.

FAQs

How many alcholic beverages will I consume?

You will be supplied with around 200mL of French Champagne during the session. If you consume all the samples (which is not a requirement of the study), then this is equivalent to 2 standard drinks. The study should cover enough time for these to be metabolised to be a safe level in your blood stream, however if you need to sit for longer and wait then it is recommended. You will be provided with water and crackers between and after tastings. The host cafe will be only open for this function, however there are restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance that you can visit if you need more time or something more substantial to eat before driving.
