Join us at Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve as we dive into the hidden world of aquatic life!This special event will uncover the unseen and often forgotten aspects of wetland ecology, featuring expert talks on the creatures and processes that make these ecosystems thrive.🌿 Discover aquatic insect diversity with Professor Barbara Downes, Professorial Fellow at The University of Melbourne in the School of Geography, Earth &amp; Atmospheric Sciences. Professor Downes is an expert in freshwater ecology, with a focus on aquatic invertebrates and their role in freshwater rivers and streams. 🌊 Explore the role of algae in health waterbodies with Michelle Tieu, as she shares insights from water samples taken at the reserve. 🔍 Learn from resident ecologist Gio Fitzpatrick about the importance of change in healthy Australian waterbodies.Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, engage, and connect with nature in a beautiful setting. Whether you're a long-time wetland enthusiast or just curious about these vital habitats, this event is for you!Afterwards, join us for afternoon tea before rolling up your sleeves for one of our weekly plant propagation volunteer sessions—a great way to take action for local biodiversity! (It's not necessary to join us for this part, but if you feel inspired it would be great to have extra hands)🌱 Come along, be inspired, and deepen your understanding of wetlands. See you there! <h3>Accessibility &amp; Transport</h3> <ul><li>The talk will be held outdoors. The area is wheelchair accessible, but please note that the paths are gravel. Additionally there will be limited seating available.</li></ul> <ul><li>Parking: Limited parking is available on-site near the YWNA shed, accessed via the driveway next to the Elwood Bowls Club.
