Exploring Drawing with Pam Vaughan
Overview
Weekly on Wednesdays, 6x classes, 18, 25 Feb, 4, 11, 18, 25 Mar
10 am - 1 pm
Pam Vaughan returns with a series of drawing classes, welcoming both new participants and returning students eager to deepen their skills from previous sessions.
In a supportive and engaging environment, these workshops focus on a mindful and playful approach to studio practice, and provide the opportunity to produce a collection of drawings that demonstrate growing creative confidence and autonomy. Participants will explore a variety of observational drawing techniques, media (including pencil, charcoal, chalk pastels, ink, collage, paint), and subject matter (such as still life, landscape, animals). This will include processes for recognising and developing your own visual language, whether naturalistic or abstract, and processes for self-reflection on the images that you make helping you to understand and evaluate your work.
About Pam Vaughan:
Pam Vaughan works mainly in drawing and printmaking, exploring animals, landscape, and a conversation about ‘aliveness’. This is shaped by an interest in Sumi-E painters, the poetry of Mary Oliver, yoga and mindfulness practice, and ideas from contemporary physics research. She sees mark-making as a physical and energetic extension of the body.
Exhibiting activities have included a national printmaking award, and being a finalist in the Sulman, Dobell and Kedumba exhibitions. She has taught extensively in community and education settings, including at Sydney University and the National Art School.
