Exhibition Opening Event at Coco Parlé | Amanda Mahony
Join us for a glass of bubbles and nibbles to celebrate the opening event for local artist Amanda Mahony & her exhibition at Coco Parlé.
You're invited to join us for a glass of bubbles and hors d'oeuvres to celebrate the opening event for Central Coast based artist, Amanda Mahony.
Amanda Mahony is an Australian painter who finds inspiration when she is on the road, bushwalking and swimming in her local landscapes of New South Wales.
Her artwork is process-based and draws upon the rich visual language of contemporary abstraction. Her paintings are responses to the emotions, solitude, hope and deep gratitude she finds far from the harried city. Amanda paints with acrylics and mixed media, building the surface over time like a tapestry. Amanda uses techniques of sgraffito, sanding, scoring and scraping away layers to reveal the underlying colours and textures. She also builds depth and atmosphere through layers of translucent glazes.
Amanda is a 2023 BFA painting graduate of the National Art School and also holds a Bachelor of Media (Journalism and Communication) from Macquarie University. She expanded her skills by spending four months studying oil painting under the mentorship of artists Dimitra Milan and Elli Milan at the Milan Art Institute in Arizona, USA in 2019.
Amanda's artwork has been featured on ABC iview's TV series OPTICS and she has been exhibited as a 2025 finalist in the 'Fairholme Open Art Prize Exhibition’, Toowoomba, QLD. She exhibits in group exhibitions at Sydney Road Gallery and Tiliqua Tiliqua Gallery in Sydney and has works featured at Tyger Gallery in Yass, NSW.
