EXERCISE SOUR GRAPES 2023
A simulation exercise being run as part of the Managing Biosecurity (Track & Trace) Pilot Project to test the use of new technology.
About this event
The simulation exercise is being conducted as part of the Track & Trace Pilot Project that forms part of a larger Managing Biosecurity Project under the Australian Government's Agricultural Innovation Hubs Program and investment.
The exercise is piloting the coordinated application of track and trace technology across four NSW wine growing regions, focusing on government, industry, the supply chain and community to demonstrate the effectiveness of the technology. The technology aims to improve biosecurity management by identifying the higher risk areas, allowing for targeted allocation of resources, thus increasing the speed at which we respond to biosecurity threats.
The simulation exercise aims to:
- improve industry readiness for and response to biosecurity threats.
- test how effectively a technology-based solution breaks down barriers associated with best practic on farm biosecurity.
- test whether a technology-based solution can improve response times and reduce the market access and business continuity impacts to growers.
- build and maintain accurate movement data around biosecurity threats to help protect the long-term resilience of the NSW wine industry.
