Overview

Exercise NOMADS is a discussion-based preparedness exercise designed to explore the potential impacts of an H5N1 Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) outbreak on local government, community services, and Council operations. The exercise will provide participants with the opportunity to work through realistic scenarios and discuss the roles and responsibilities of local government during an H5N1 outbreak.

The exercise aims to:

  • Build situational awareness of H5N1 and its potential impacts on local government, community services, and Council operations.
  • Identify local government roles and responsibilities during an outbreak of disease.
  • Clarify response arrangements, escalation pathways, and strategies to support a coordinated local government response.
  • Clarify communication and public information arrangements during an H5N1 outbreak.
