Event description

Description

There are some who believe that the grape vine existed before the arrival of human beings on the Italian island of Sicily, which occurred over 20,000 years ago. Cultivating vines for wine production occurred much later, and the most extreme location to do this is on the slopes of Mount Etna, which is currently the tallest active volcano in Europe. Despite the long history of wine production in this region, there were no real commercial wineries here until about 30 years ago!

Etna is now one of the most exciting places to produce wine in the world, and has captured the attention of winemakers, sommeliers and critics alike. It isn't one single element that makes Etna wines so compelling, it is a combination of factors that include elevation, soils, indigenous varieties and climate. With recent advances in viticulture and winemaking, as well as more focus on single vineyard wines, these are some of the most sought after wines in the world.

Join the top importers of Italian wine in Australia at the first edition of E.T.N.A. Vino Sud, and you will have the opportunity to taste wines from more than 20 producers, including Passopisciaro, Pietradolce, Tenute Terre Nerre, Girolamo Russo, Benanti, Terrazze dell'Etna, Vino di Anna, Tenuta di Aglaea and many more! Your ticket includes some delicious snacks prepared by the team at Mary's Underground, and your own personal Plumm glass to take home with you!
