This workshop is run by the Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme, with support of the First Nations Community-Based Palliative Care Program. Learn about the role of equipment in pressure injury prevention in palliative and end-of-life care. During this session we will cover;
- Pressure injuries and end-of-life skin changes
- Pressure injury risk assessment
- Assessing clients for suitable pressure relieving equipment
- Selecting suitable cushions and mattresses for palliative care clients
- The role of bed positioning in palliative care
- Other prevention strategies

About the presenter
Dr Kieran Broome is an occupational therapist and clinical educator. He works as an Advanced Clinical Educator at the Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme, as well as a part-time rural generalist private practice occupational therapist.
As well as being well-versed in assistive technology in community and palliative care, Kieran has also conducted research specifically into assistive technology and end-of-life care. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and current Vice President of the Australian Rehabilitation & Assistive Technology Association.
