EQUALIZE is a free, practical one-day workshop for women and gender diverse musicians and producers*. Taking place in Perth in October, participants will hone and develop their songwriting and music production skills from Katy Steele and Elise Reitze-Swensen respectively. The skill development sessions will take place in small groups, with a focus on creating a supportive, inclusive and open environment.This event is presented in partnership with SAE, Women In Music Production(WOMP) and Neumann.*APRA AMCOS recognises that ‘gender diverse’ embodies a variety of ways people experience gender, including non-binary, trans, gender non-conforming, other non-cis male gender expressions and more. Above all, APRA AMCOS believes that the EQUALIZE workshops should be an inclusive, safe and caring creative environment for all participants.About Katy Steele: Katy Steele has one of Australia’s most unmistakable voices — ethereal,Katy Steele has one of Australia’s most unmistakable voices — ethereal,dramatic, and unforgettable.Best known as the front woman of Little Birdy, she has spent nearly twodecades forging her path as a singer-songwriter and solo artist.With three ARIA-nominated albums, international tours, a solo debut (Human),and her acclaimed 2023 album Big Star—Katy continues to evolve as apowerful creative force.In 2025, Katy reunited with Little Birdy for the band’s first shows in more thana decade. The re-release of BigBigLove also debuted at #2 on the national vinyl charts, further highlighting the band’s legacy and continued cultural relevance.Now based in Perth, Katy is writing her next solo album while also working ona memoir, adding another chapter to her illustrious career. About Elise Reitze-Swensen: Elise Reitze-Swensen (AKA Feels) is a multi-award-winning composer, music producer, and gender equality activist from Perth, Western Australia. Elise has established a signature voice in electronic music production—being described as “some of the most intricate and refined pieces of electronic music to emerge from Australia in, well, ever” (Purple Sneakers). Elise’s duo Feels (est. 2016) has toured nationally and internationally (highlights include, Festivals: Grampians, Listen Out, Laneway, Falls, Groovin the Moo, Melbourne Fashion, SXSW (US), and Ableton Loop (Berlin), Supports: G Flip, Orbital, Kimbra, Unknown Mortal Orchestra). Elise’s discography has been supported by the likes of Triple J, Ableton, BBC radio 1, Spotify, Apple Music, the Les Paul Foundation—also topping the Amrap metro charts with her single ‘They Need Us (feat. Stella Donnelly).’ Elise founded WOMPP in 2017—now a community of over 700 womxn music producers. WOMPP’s annual songwriting camp (est. 2022), is the only songwriting camp specifically for womxn producers at any stage in their career in Australia. Elise’s work spearheading change for women in music technology has been recognised at a national level—WOMPP was the winner of the Outstanding Community Award at Australia’ Music Producers and Engineers Guild 2024 Awards. In addition to her creative work, Elise is also a leading educator in music making—as an Ableton Certified trainer, a mentor for APRA AMCOS’s national program SongMakers, a casual lecturer at WAAPA, and a guest lecturer at interstate universities. Elise is a freelance music producer—providing support to women in contemporary music both nationally and internationally. Elise is a 2025 Minderoo Foundation Artist Fund Recipient—her project is exploring the unheard stories of Matrescence (transition to Motherhood) through songwriting and music production.
