Exploring the science behind better biodiversity and land-use decisions in an era of competing environmental demands
This webinar will explore how environmental intelligence can support more informed decision-making for biodiversity as we grapple with the increased demands for land uses including data centres and renewable energy.
Co-hosted by the UQ Climate Change Research Network, Energy Transition Research Network, and AI Research Network, the session will bring together researchers working across ecology, remote sensing, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence. The event will be moderated by Professor Justine Bell-James (Climate Change Research Network).
The webinar will feature a panel discussion with Professor Eve McDonald-Madden, Professor Belinda Wade, Associate Professor Vigya Sharma and Dr Matthew Holden, bringing together perspectives across biodiversity conservation, energy transition, land-use planning, decision science and the application of AI to environmental challenges.
The discussion will highlight how these disciplinary approaches can be better integrated to better understand landscape dynamics, evaluate trade-offs across land uses, and support more robust, transparent decision-making under changing environmental conditions.
