Georges River Libraries offers free beginner and intermediate English Conversation Classes for individuals who want to improve their English in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Held weekly across nine weeks, each class is led by a facilitator who will guide discussions, help explain new words, and encourage you to speak in everyday situations.


Choose the class that’s right for your level:

  • Beginner: For learners with basic English who want to improve speaking and reading in a supportive group.
  • Intermediate: For those who can speak English and want to become more fluent and confident.


Term 1 starts on 18 February, running each Tuesday for 9 weeks until 15 April.

Class sessions are held from 10.00am - 11.30am on the following dates:

25 February

4 March

11 March

18 March

25 March

1 April

8 April

15 April

Each session is guided by a facilitator who will help you understand English Learning practices as well as improve your speaking and reading skills.


These classes free but spaces are limited – when you sign up, you are required to attend every class.


Disclaimer about non-attendance:

If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so we can offer your place to someone on the waitlist.


Cost: Free

Age: Adult

Experience: For those who want to refine their English speaking skills to become more fluent and confident when talking in groups.

Equipment: All materials will be provided.

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces, repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations may result in bookings being refused in the future.
  • The library does not endorse or promote any products which may be used in the workshop.
