Join us as we launch the Engaging Science Trail, a joint initiative between TERN and QUT’s SERF. This event is a showcase of research infrastructure, educational activities and our newly minted trail. The Engaging Science Trail has been developed by educational experts, academics and site experts to provide a lasting contribution to Queensland’s scientific literacy. It is proudly supported by the Queensland Government's Engaging Science Grants.
What to expect
The Engaging Science Trail will officially be opened by Queensland’s Chief Scientist, Professor Kerrie Wilson and will be the first interactive education trail for research infrastructure in South East Queensland. Participants will engage with the trail through digital technology as they meander through the bushland, learning about native flora and fauna, Indigenous culture, active environmental research projects, university and national research infrastructure and the environment.
The day will also include the first public viewing of Digital SERF an interactive educational and outreach product produced by QUT, increasing access to the Engaging Science Trail for all. Additionally, there will be presentations and demonstrations in the fields of carbon sequestration, educational outreach, environmental drone research, long-term environmental monitoring, conservation of threatened vertebrate species, and art-science collaborations, just to name a few.
To ensure we can cater appropriately, please register here. To inform content for future events, please indicate which talks or demonstrations you are interested in attending. A program will be emailed out to registrants closer to the day. We can’t wait to see you all there.
