Lula Dembele is a specialist in gender relations and anti-patriarchal systems change. She’s a passionate survivor advocate for victims of childhood sexual abuse, childhood and adult domestic violence. Combining lived experience and professional expertise in strategic policy and gender mainstreaming, Lula has dedicated herself to working on structural and cultural change to end violence against women. In 2018, Lula established the Accountability Matters Project to re-frame domestic violence from being seen as ‘women’s issue’, and drive national efforts to reduce ‘men’s use of sexual, domestic and family violence’. Lula is co-founder of the Independent Collective of Survivors (ICOS), a national group of survivor advocates who support lived experience advocacy pushing for social and systemic change. Lula has led work in transformative practice to create gender equitable workplaces across Victoria, is a member of the National Plan Advisory Group, a Bravehearts Ambassador, and recently commenced as Director of Lived Expertise and Advocacy for the Illawarra Women’s Health Centre – Women’s Trauma Recovery Centre Project.

Morgan Cataldo dedicates her professional life to developing and advocating for participatory practice and peer education as essential levers for creating true, lasting, powershifting systemic change in services for historically excluded communities.Bringing 12-years of experience, Morgan is currently leading Y-Change, an innovative platform within Berry Street. Y-Change engages, trains, employs and supports young people (aged 18-30) to access and harness their lived experience of socioeconomic disadvantage as a significant expertise, and apply their unique insights toward organisational and sector discourse on systemic change and advocacy. Separate to Y-Change, in her independent consultancy practice, Morgan advises, coaches and consults with organisations across Australia who are seeking to understand the role of power in their everyday work and how they can design and shape more meaningful policies, programs, and services by partnering with people with lived experience relevant to their purpose.

Chantelle Higgs (she/her) is a settler living in Naarm. I'm committed and passionate about systemic change and social justice. Since finding my way into community services I’ve contributed to social change activities &amp; campaigns alongside communities experiencing structural disadvantage such as colonisation, racism, classism, Islamophobia, homophobia, and transphobia. I've been privileged to collaborated with people of colour and/or members of the LGBTQI+ to use their lived experience in youth and community services. In my role as Engagement Lead of VMIAC I'm striving to use this my passion and my own lived experience of mental health challenges for inclusion and accessibility to drive engagement across our events, trainings, and programs.

Nicole Thompson is the Manager Residential Peer Programs at SHARC self Help addiction Resource Centre. SHARC is the Australian hub for Intentional Peer Support (IPS) training. Intentional Peer Support is an exciting way of thinking about and inviting powerful, transformative relationships. Peer workers learn to use relationships to see things from new angles, develop greater awareness of personal and relational patterns, and support and challenge each other in trying new things.For over twenty years, IPS has been inspiring and training people in community, peer support and human services settings all over the world to be intentional about the way they connect and build mutual relationships. It has been widely used as a foundation training for people working in both traditional and alternative mental health settings.
