Event description
Join us for a reading and Q&A with acclaimed writer Ellena Savage at Brunswick Bound.

About this Event

We are thrilled to be hosting an event with author, academic and poet Ellena Savage at Brunswick Bound Upstairs.

Ellena will be reading from her new book Blueberries , a collection of essays that blends personal essay, polemic, prose poetry, true-crime journalism and confession. That considers a fragmented life and reflects on what it means to be a woman, a body, an artist. Blueberries is both a memoir and an interrogation of memoir.

Ellena will be in conversation with writer and performance poet Georgia Kartas.

Light refreshments will be served at the event.

Ellena Savage is an author and academic. Her work has been publishing widely in anthologies and literary journals including, recently, the Paris Review Daily, Sydney Review of Books, Choice Words and The Lifted Brow, which she is a former editor of. Ellena is the recipient of several grants and prizes, including the 2019-21 Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship. She lives in Athens, Greece.

Georgia Kartas is a writer and performance poet whose work explores feminism, sustainability, and the occult. In 2018 her first novella was published in The People’s Library, Tasmania, and she completed an artist residency at Centre Pompadour, France. She has performed at the Emerging Writers' Festival, Nayri Niara, the Digital Writers’ Festival, the Students of Sustainability Conference, and Dark Mofo. Her poetry has been published in Baby Teeth Journal and The Lifted Brow. She also co-curates Thin Red Lines, a quarterly performance poetry showcase in Naarm/Melbourne.

We acknowledge the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation as the traditional owners and storytellers of the land on which we meet, share stories, learn and read together.
