Description

Graduate Research School

Presented by Dr Scott Flower

Some of the world’s biggest challenges require the collection of new data - climate change, poverty, humanitarian responses, and other complex issues. The collection of such data does not come without complexity and risk. How do we balance return with investment, confront our personal morals, and build our own capacity as researchers? Without the provision of training and support for the collection of cutting edge data, we cannot expect to be at the forefront of our fields.
Dr Scott Flower will share his experiences as a researcher in complex and hostile places, and how he assists others in navigating their way past the edges of their own fields.
Join us for a conversation about risk - through the lens of relevant research fields such as social justice, security science, counter-terrorism, as well as more generally through within-university ethics processes.
