Description

Overview

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the second leading cause of avoidable hospital admissions. With this in mind, the importance of engaging with patients around their symptoms and providing them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to manage their own lung health is essential. Early intervention and optimal management can reduce the rate of lung function decline and lead to better health outcomes for patients with COPD.

This half-day comprehensive workshop tailored to pharmacists will enhance your clinical understanding of COPD with focuses on non-pharmacotherapy interventions, COPD screening, COPD medications and inhaler devices and an emphasis on a pharmacist’s invaluable role in COPD detection and management.

Registration from 9.30am for a 10am start.

Lunch provided.

Practical components:

  • COPD screening using Piko-6 Test device
  • Inhaler devices: demonstration and hands-on practice
  • Two comprehensive case studies

Participants will be provided with a demo kit containing placebo Inhaler devices and COPD resources to take home to support their pharmacy practice.
