Televisions, computers and accessories, printers, copiers, scanners, mobile phones, small appliances e.g. vacuum cleaners, microwaves, kettles, coffee machines, irons, toasters, mixers, DVD/CD players, set-top boxes, Hi-Fi sets, radios, cameras, electrical tools, items with a battery or power cord.

Items containing liquids e.g. oil heaters, paints and solvents, chemicals, items containing light globes or fluorescent tubes, large white goods e.g. refrigerators, freezers, ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, smoke detectors, general waste, and other recycling.

What soft plastic items will be accepted?

Accepted Answer

Soft plastics that are clean and free from labels and tapes, and not contaminated with organic material such as food.

What soft plastic items won't be accepted?

Accepted Answer

Foil lined and silver plastic packaging including chip packets, coffee bags, packaging that has wet food e.g. ice cream wrappers and yoghurt pouches, PVC e.g. pool covers and bed linen packaging.

What hard plastic items will be accepted?

Accepted Answer

Items must be 100% plastic and must not contain metal parts, batteries or electrical components. Hard plastics will only be accepted if clean and free from labels and tape, and not contaminated with organic material such as food.

What hard plastic items won't be accepted?

Accepted Answer

Biscuit packet trays, fresh produce trays, plastic bottles and drink containers, plastic containers and cartons, clear 'plastic' carry bags for sheets and blankets, sheets of plastic greater than A3 size, anything containing metal parts, batteries or electrical components.

Accepted Answer

Polystyrene must be clean, free from labels and tape, and not contaminated with organic material such as food.

What polystyrene items won't be accepted?

Accepted Answer

Coloured, waxy or flexible foam, packaging beans and beans from bean bags, meat trays, takeaway food containers, or coffee cups.

What textile items will be accepted?

Accepted Answer

Worn, damaged or unusable textiles and clothing, clothes, manchester, towels, and curtains.

What textile items won't be accepted?

Accepted Answer

'Stuffed' items such as pillows, doonas, soft toys, any soiled textiles e.g. textiles that are covered in oil, paint or other chemicals, dirty textiles. Textiles will only be accepted if unsoiled.

What cardboard items will be accepted?

Accepted Answer

Clean cardboard free of sticky tape and strapping.

Question 12

What cardboard items won't be accepted?

Accepted Answer

Cardboard that is lined with plastic or wax as this can't be recycled, or soiled cardboard.
