Who can take part in this event?

This event is designed for adults and families with children 8yrs+. Due to the nature of walking at dusk and looking for noise-sensitive animals, this event is not suitable for younger children. Participants must have a reasonable level of fitness and the ability to walk on uneven ground at night.

What do I wear and bring?

Wear closed shoes, long pants and clothing appropriate for being outside at night. Bring a hand or head torch to use to see where you are walking. Bring your mobile phone, ideally with the iNaturalist and FrogID apps already installed.

Please park in the car parking area at Blackbutt Park, entrance on Wattle Road. If the car park is full there is plenty of parking on Wattle Rd.

Are there toilets and access to drinking water onsite?

Yes, there is one public toilet at Blackbutt Park, this will be accessible at this event. There is also a tap for refilling drink bottles available.

We're hosting a guided nature walk in Blackbutt Forest to watch the dusk fly out of the local Grey-headed Flying-fox colony. Join horticulturalist and nature enthusiast Carl Glaister and Grey-Headed Flying-Fox threatened species officer Kylie Coutts-McClelland as we witness the amazing natural environment and wildlife at Blackbutt Forest.

This event is suitable for people aged 8+yrs who have a good level of fitness as we will be walking on uneven, unsealed bush tracks.

Please book 1 ticket for EACH person attending this session.

Bring your sharpest wildlife spotting skills and please use this as an opportunity to upload your observations into citizen science apps iNatuarlist and FrogID.
