Overview

Join Dr Moira Junge and Dr Tetyana Rocks to explore the links between sleep, diet and mood.

Stress, low mood, anxiety and more. These are among the most common health concerns affecting Australians today. Lifestyle behaviours are increasingly being linked to mental wellbeing. So what do we know about how are is sleep and mental health linked, and where does diet fit in?

Join Sleep Health Foundation CEO, Dr Moira Junge and Food & Mood Academy Director, Dr Tetyana Rocks in this one-hour live webinar exploring the interconnected relationships between sleep, mental health, and diet.

In this webinar, Dr Moira Junge will examine why sleep is foundational to our emotional regulation and resilience, how our mental health can directly impact sleep, and how small, daily habits can meaningfully improve sleep.

We'll also explore where diet plays a role, with practical, evidence-backed strategies you can use to enhance both sleep and mental wellbeing with Dr Tetyana Rocks, APD.

Hosted by Deakin University's Food & Mood Academy, this webinar brings together expertise in behavioural sleep science and Nutritional Psychiatry to provide clear, research-informed insights of how sleep and diet relate to mental health.

This webinar is designed for community members, health-interested consumers, and professionals seeking a clear, evidence-based overview of sleep, diet and mental health. No prior health knowledge is required.

There will also be time at the end to have your questions answered by our experts.

WHO WILL YOU LEARN WITH?

Dr Moira Junge is a clinical health psychologist with a specialty in treating sleep disorders and promoting behaviour change. She has a Doctorate in Health Psychology and prior to her psychology career, she was a registered nurse for over a decade. She is also the inaugural CEO of the Sleep Health Foundation. After three decades on the front lines treating mental health challenges and sleep disorders, she made the switch from intervention to prevention. She speaks with the voice of an experienced clinician, a parent, ex shift worker, and now public health advocate concerned about personal sustainability via improved sleep and other lifestyle changes. Moira firmly believes in the power of prevention and awareness raising. Whether addressing corporate audiences, health professionals, or the wider public, she brings clarity, credibility, and urgency to one of the most overlooked pillars of mental and physical health: sleep.

Dr Tetyana Rocks is Director of Deakin University’s Food & Mood Academy, and a senior research fellow who leads the translational activities within the Food & Mood Centre. Dr Rocks is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with extensive experience in professional education.

Moderated by Phelia Harrison, Associate Nutritionist, Chef and Communications Manager at the Food & Mood Academy.
