Event description
Nothing could've prepared the detectives for what they would find when they opened the boot of Maria Korp's car.

About this event

On February 9, 2005, 50-year-old Maria Korp was reported missing by her husband Joe, who told police he hadn’t seen Maria since 6:30am that morning.

The police released details of Maria’s car to the media and four days later on February 13, the vehicle was spotted parked close to the Shrine of Remembrance. Detectives were called to the scene, where they tentatively opened the car’s boot.

What the detectives found would not only shock Australia but would have a profound effect on Narelle Fraser for the rest of her career with Victoria Police.

This March, Black Salmon presents Narelle Fraser at Melbourne’s State Library Conversation Quarter, where she will talk in-depth about her involvement with the Maria Korp case.

About Narelle Fraser: Narelle served 27 years as a police detective, covering some of the most heinous crimes committed in Victorian history.

However, the ongoing pressure associated with her role began to take its toll, and although Narelle fought hard, a progressive battle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) finally forced her hand and she retired in 2014.

She is a frequent – and popular - guest on Australian True Crime Podcast with Meshel Laurie and Emily Webb and now has her own podcast, Narelle Fraser Interviews.

When: May 22, 2021 from 7PM.

Where: Conversation Quarter, State Library of Victoria, 328 Swanston Street, Melbourne, Victoria, 3000

What time: 7pm sharp
