Professor Golding's illustrated presentation will draw out some of the key findings and implications from his groundbreaking book Six Peaks Speak: Unsettling Legacies in Southern Dja Dja Wurrung Country. The comprehensive and often violent unsettling of Dja Dja Wurrung people, which occurred on and around the six local mountains featured in the book, is often obscured by the history of gold. So many of the stories, including those about the much-loved, nearby local peak, Liyanganuk/Mt Alexander, have not previously been told.

Six Peaks Speak was locally researched with Castlemaine-based geologist Clive William as part of a State Library Victoria Creative Fellowship in 2023.
