DISCO
Overview

The primary school disco is at 5pm tonight. The kids? They’re stoked! The staff? They’re screwed.

What should be an ordinary lunchtime in the staff room has become pandemonium, as the disco (which was announced two weeks ago) is just a few hours away, barely enough time to dust off the strobe lights and pull a disco out of thin air. But it seems that every step forward is two steps back as this team of disorganised educators fumble their way out of the hole they've dug themselves into.

The play follows Miss Tomlin as she desperately attempts to rally a colourful team of teachers to get off their bums and put in some work. There's 'Kano', the self-described 'cool' teacher who has a reputation to uphold, but is far too lazy to do anything about the disco that doesn't explicitly make him look good- there's Miss Stutchberry, an old-fashioned teacher who questions every single decision, especially with the concern of students with dietary requirements- Miss Rethus, who's just there to help, despite not being very helpful at all- and Miss Daniels, who's stuck at the shops the whole time. Alongside the teachers there's two students, Archie, a little brat who keeps busting into the staff room just for the thrill of it, and Minnie, the student leader, who, although is allowed into the staff room, is a little suck-up and snitch (and possibly emotionally unstable).

DISCO is a new Australian comedy play by Ben Hockley, in his writing/directing debut. Expect plenty of slapstick, nostalgia, chaos, and lots of heart; see how far a truly passionate teacher is willing to go even when something seems completely hopeless right from the start.
