Digital Skills Challenge: Fun, Facts and Online Safety | Free Workshop
Overview
National Seniors Australia is offering free, small-group digital skills training in Childers through the Australian Government’s Be Connected program. These friendly sessions will help you build confidence, stay safer online, and learn practical digital skills for everyday life.
This program includes a structured series of weekly topics, with one compulsory session required by the funder: 13 May, which includes the Digital Skills Checker activity. If you cannot attend on 13 May, you may complete the Digital Skills Checker independently through the Be Connected website.
Places are limited to 30 participants, and registrations are essential.
What You’ll Learn
Throughout the program, you will cover key Be Connected topics including:
- Introduction to Be Connected
- Digital Skills Checker (compulsory)
- Scams and online security
- Protecting your privacy
- Using MyGov and online government services
- Buying and selling online
- Using Google Search and Google Maps
- Health and wellbeing technology
- Connecting with others
- Family history research
- Fun things to do with photos
- Catch-up and revision sessions
Participants who complete their required activities before Graduation Day will be invited to a special celebration event on 20 May, with family and local dignitaries welcome to attend.
