Event description

Description

As development programmes increasingly deploy digital tools and invest in increasing access, we need to engage with issues of data security and cybersecurity in a more informed and comprehensive way.

The report Digital Inclusion and a Trusted Internet: The Role of the International Development Community in Balancing Internet Access and Security, commissioned by the DAI Center for Digital Acceleration, looks at the current context and emerging trends that have increased the urgency for the international development community to develop a practical agenda around data security and cybersecurity as access increases.

We will hear a summary of the report and its findings from report author Jonathan Dolan. A panel discussion will follow, with speakers:

  • Jonathan Dolan, formerly Digital Inclusion Lead at the USAID Global Development Lab, representing DAI

  • Kate Wilson, CEO, Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL)

  • Andrew Toft, Digital Advisor, UK Department for International Development (DFID)

  • Toby Phillips, Head of Research and Policy, Pathways for Prosperity, University of Oxford

  • Krista Baptista, Senior Director, DAI Center for Digital Acceleration (Moderator)

Coffee and tea will be avaliable on arrival, and drinks after the discussion.

Please make sure to RSVP on Eventbrite.
