Danielle Gibbens

Danielle has been a Dental Hygienist for 10 years graduating from South Australia's ADOH programme. Since then she has been working in private practice across the state of Tasmania in both general and specialist practices. When not at work Danielle is often volunteering for the DHAA in a range of roles such as Tasmanian Director but most recently social media volunteer and Editor of the Bulletin. She is also curently studying a Masters in Public Health through the Univeristy of Tasmania, has written articles for dental companies and has been invited to speak at several conferences.

Lecture Synopsis-

Lets get Digital - How to maintain a professional profile on social media

We are living in a digital age so its important to have a clear understanding of what is expected of us professioanls when it comes to social media. The presentation will give a brao overview of AHPRA guidelines in regards to use of sical media for buisnesses and professionals, how you can use socail media to increase your professional profile and some of the pitfalls of using social media.

Sahil Bareja

Sahil is a dual qualified Dental therapist and hygienist with advanced skills in adult restorative dentistry. Sahil graduated from University of Sydney and further completed his Graduate certificate in Oral health science from the University of Adelaide to expand his skills in adult restorative dentistry. Since graduation, Sahil has completed numerous continuous professional development courses to update his skills both clinically and professionally. In 2014, Sahil completed his Mini-residency in Snoring, Sleep Apnoea and TMJ Disorders and he further pursued his interest by enrolling in Masters of Sleep medicine from University of Sydney. Sahil works closely with multidisciplinary team at the Institute of Sleep medicine in detection of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. Along with working in private practice, Sahil also teaches at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney as a Clinical educator. Sahil is also a founder of a dental education app called Mydentalhealth, which enables patients to take responsibility of their oral health while at home unsupervised. Sahil takes pride in his work and has special interest in field of Dental sleep medicine.

Sahil’s combined knowledge in the field of periodontal disease and Sleep Apnoea enables him to provide an effective treatment by not just treating periodontal disease, but also correcting associated risk factors, such as mouth breathing and chronic dry mouth by managing the associated airways.

Tabitha Acret

Tabitha obtained a Bachelor of Oral health from the Univeristy fo Newcastle, since graduation Tabitha has worked in private practice and also as a clinical educator at Sydney Univeristy. Tabitha is currently studying a graduate diploma in Obstructive Sleep Apneoa and is passioante about continuing education. Previously the NSW Chair and now NT director she is a passioante volunteer for the DHAA. Tabitha is a Swiss Dental Academy trainer and reguarly presents both in Australia and overseas.

Lecture Synopsis

Changing the Game

Dental Biofilm is the main eitologic factor for caries, periodontal and peri-implant infections. Guided biofilm therapy is a new and revolutionary approach to dental prophylaxis and biofilm removal. GTB follows the European Federation of Periodontology's (EEP) reccomedations on professional mechanial plaque removal and oral hygiene insrtuctions for home care. The lecture will talk through the steps of GBT and how to achieve the best results for your patients.

Ian Epondulan - BOH

Ian is an Oral Health Therapist and completed a Bachelor of Oral Health (BOH) degree from The University of Sydney in 2011. He volunteers for the Dental Hygienists Association of Australia (DHAA) Ltd. as NSW Director and has had clinical experience in Public Health Dentistry at NSW Health. Currently undertaking a Master of Public Health (MPH) at The University of Sydney he is passionate about Health Promotion and Health Advocacy especially amongst adolescents linking Oral Health with General Health. He is an Educator for the Students As LifeStyle Activists (SALSA) Program which aims to empower high school students to live healthier lives through healthy eating and physical activity.

Guests can go onto our website www.lakecrackenback.com.au and select the option to book online. This will bring up a page with all dates and rates for each accommodation type. At the top, select the date range for the guest stay. There is a small box called promotional code where guests need to enter the unique wedding code DHAA it will then bring up all the accommodation types available during the conference with the 10% discount already applied. Please note online bookings using this code can only be booked within 12 months of the conference date. Ski Hire:

The Resort has an onsite ski hire – Harros Ski Hire – prices are very competitive with on mountain hire outlets.

Dietary Requirements - We will attempt to accommodate all dietary requirements. Please send through any restrictions to contactact@dhaa.info at least seven (7) days prior to the event.

Cancellation Policy - Ten (10) days notice must be given in writing to contactact@dhaa.info , if you cannot attend, to receive a refund. Reimbursements will not be made after this time. Registration can be transferred to another person of the same membership status.
