Designing for Everyone: Inclusive Innovation in Sport and Beyond
A masterclass organised by UQ Ventures & DTU Skylab to explore and share tools, methods, and real-world case examples.
How can inclusive and universal design help shape better sporting experiences, technologies, and events?
This two-hour masterclass aims to bring together people working across sport technology, sport innovation, inclusive design, accessibility, and related research and industry fields to explore how inclusive thinking can be applied in practice.
Hosted by UQ Ventures in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the session will be led by Marie-Louise Pollmann-Larsen, Team Leader, Student Innovation at DTU Skylab) who will share practical insights from her work in Universal Design and introduce the Ability Prompt Cards: a hands-on tool that supports teams to design products and experiences that consider a wide range of users and abilities from the outset.
Why it matters:
•Inclusion expands markets
•Diversity fuels better solutions
•Universal Design helps ideas scale to many
The session is designed as an open conversation and learning space. Participants will hear real-world examples, exchange perspectives, and discuss how inclusive design can support innovation, scale, and impact across sport-related contexts - from technology and infrastructure to events and community experiences.
By the end of the event, you will:
- Explore real-world case studies
- Learn practical tools and methodologies
- Receive a complimentary Universal Design tool designed by DTU Skylab
This event is for researchers, founders, practitioners, and industry professionals who are curious or have been working with inclusive design in big events, experiences, products and mainly within innovation in sport aiming to create experiences that work for more people, not fewer.
