Event description

Description

Organisations deliver more value if they align the needs of all stakeholders. Better organisations obsess less about the short-term bottom line or delighting customers at organisational cost, but align their purpose, behaviours, ways of working, culture and outcomes to the needs of customers, staff, shareholders, society and the environment.

Join us for a lively panel discussion about how these organisations are thinking and working differently.

Note: this event will be held under Chatham House Rules. No formal media reporting is permitted.

On the panel will be:

  • Harriet Wakelam, IAG
Harriet's work at IAG uses design techniques to help deliver to our customers a safer Australia. She uses design techniques to bring a practice based approach across innovation, future strategy and customer experience design. She is fascinated by ‘why’, making real things that inspire curiosity and generate new meaning.

She’s worked at NAB, CAPCO, Medibank as well as supporting start ups and an active supporter of the UK and Australian start up community. Her work has taken her to the US, UK, Russia and Eastern Europe. Not averse to a good negroni - and taking an prototype approach to parenting.

  • Owen Hodda, Practice Lead, ANZ Design Office
Owen is a senior designer in ANZ’s newly formed Design Office.

He has over a decade’s experience designing products and services for many of Australia’s biggest brands, as well as abroad. Prior to ANZ Owen was part of the founding team of MAKE Studios, and also helped establish Deloitte Digital’s design research practice.

He has worked across technology, finance and education sectors to help large organisation serve their customer’s needs and remain competitive.

  • Iain Barker, co-founder, Meld Studios
Iain is a human-centred designer, trainer and qualified director (GAICD) with over 20 years experience across the public and private sector. He has extensive experience writing, teaching and leading projects focused on organisation design.

  • Alexandra Almond, Principal, Meld Studios

She was a founding member of the Customer Experience Design team at NAB (now NAB Labs). More recently she led a team of human centre designers in the Product Development & Innovation team at Public Transport Victoria.

Alexandra is driven by a desire to make change for people. She specialises in making design accessible to large organisations so they find it easier to get close to their customers, and so create better experiences.

Dr Jeremy Yuille (Principal, Meld Studios) will MC this discussion.
