Meet the sons & daughters of the visionary creatives who shaped Beaumaris.
Design Generation is a celebration of the creative social history of Beaumaris. This special evening illuminates the life and times of the artists, designers, architects and creative spirits who grew up, came of age and designed the future from Beaumaris, all via fascinating anecdotes from their children.
Some of Australia’s best-known architects designed their earliest homes in Beaumaris: Grounds Romberg & Boyd, Peter McIntyre, Neil Clerehan, Chancellor & Patrick, John Baird, Mockridge Stahle Mitchell, David Godsell and Gordon Steele to name but a few.
Similarly, some of our country’s most well-regarded designers & artists either grew up or lived in Beaumaris. Fashion designers Sally Brown, Linda Jackson and Pru Acton. Artists Leonard French, Clarice Beckett and Arthur Boyd. Fabric artist Michael O’Connor. Architect and historian Mary Turner Shaw. Lighting designers Don Brown and Bill Iggulden. Gallery owner Christine Abrahams and so many more.
