Design A Repeat Textile Print for Youth

Design A Repeat Textile Print for Youth

Stanmore LibraryStanmore, NSW
Thursday, Apr 9 from 10:30 am to 12 pm
Overview

Learn to create a repeat textile print with local artist Em Hatton. For ages 14-18.

A still life drawing workshop with a fun twist. You’ll be guided to draw various objects and knick-knacks, quietening your inner critic and keeping it expressive and individual to you. You’ll then learn how to turn these drawings into a nice repeat print using only paper, tape and scissors. Your unique design will be emailed to you after the session.

Beginner-friendly, and all materials provided. But if you have some favourite or interesting objects you’d like to turn into a repeat print, feel free to bring them along.

Ages 14-18

Be inspired with some great book resources on pattern designs here.

We may take photographs of the facilitators and the participants at this event. Read here for more details.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

EM HATTON is a contemporary artist who mainly paints femme figures and has a background in textile design and screenprinting. Bold colour contrasts are a central point in Em’s work, and she paints in a signature flattened style with bold bright colours and a focus on line and form over shading. Em creates work on Gadigal land in Mothership Studios, Marrickville, a shared artist warehouse community of makers, musicians and artists.

ABOUT THE VENUE:

STANMORE LIBRARY is accessible from street level by ramp, however it does not have an accessible toilet.

If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully, please let us know in the booking order form to ensure that we can arrange any reasonable adjustments.

Photos supplied by Em Hatton.
