Description

Our professional learning session this term is centred around the State of the Fisheries report - an annual update on the state of the fish stocks and aquatic resources of WA. This document provides a comprehensive reference for the current status of WA’s aquatic resources, including those of major importance to the commercial and recreational fishing sectors, the aquaculture industry, the tourism industry, and for those in the community interested in the overall health of WAs aquatic environment.

Did you know the past nine years’ reports are available to freely download from the Department of Fisheries’ website, meaning you have access to real fisheries management data for use in your classroom? Come and learn more about what the report contains, and how you can use that information.

We'll also discuss some of the Marine WATERs resources that may applicable for use in your classroom too. We encourage you to bring along any activities and/or ideas to share as well.

This session is aimed at Year 10 -12 Science teachers (Biology, Marine & Maritime Studies and Integrated Science), including pre-service teachers and will include take-away hard copy resources and a certificate of attendance.

Light refreshments and registration from 3.45pm for a 4.00pm start.
