This year marks 50 years since the 1967 referendum and the ‘yes’ vote in support of removing two references in the constitution that discriminated against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Join Paul Barclay from ABC RN Big Ideas to discuss this landmark event – which was preceded by ten years of civil rights campaigning – and ask the question ‘has change truly come, or is it coming still?’ The panel of acclaimed guests includes:
- The Hon Linda Burney MP, Member for Barton
- Ray Peckham, Aboriginal rights activist
- Professor John Maynard, co-director of Purai Global Indigenous and Diaspora Research Studies Centre, University of Newcastle
- Andrea Mason, chief executive officer of the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women's Council
This event is part of Defining Moments in Australian History.
