Deep Time Walk

I organise and lead Deep Time Walks in Melbourne, as a integrated, holisitic means of connecting people to life's story. The walk is contemplative, reflective and educational. During the walk you will develop an understanding of how the Earth has evolved across its 4.6 billion year history, and the context of our own human species, Homo Sapiens.I usually lead the walk along the beautiful Brighton and Elwood foreshore, although groups wishing to walk elsewhere can contact me to arrange.“Tammy’s knowledge is immense and she wove a story of science, history and a passion for the environment into a thought provoking and active morning”.(Zandy, tour participant)

Step Through Time

Let me guide you through the 4.6 billion years of Earth’s history. You will be amazed at our wonderful planet whilst learning about the incredible development of nature and the place of humans in relation to the Earth.
We will walk 4.6km, with each kilometre representing 1 billion years, and each metre representing 1 million years. It is very difficult to fully comprehend the scale of time when we consider, for example, that dinosaurs were around approx. 65-250 million years ago, humans evolved 2.5 million years ago, the last ice age ended 13000 years ago and the industrial revolution began 250 years ago. A Deep Time Walk is an immersive experience which will help you grasp the meaning of 4,600,000,000 years.
Part history lesson, part mindfulness session, this walk is all about stepping out of our own lives and gaining a sense of the really Big Picture.
Suitable for curious people age 12+.
