Death and Dying for Beginners

Death and Dying for Beginners

Northam LibraryNortham, WA
Saturday, Mar 14 from 10 am to 12 pm AWST
Overview

This workshop series will help you engage with end of life planning in a practical and supported way.

It is never too early to get your death related ducks in a row but we can leave it too late. Getting your head & heart around some of the logistics that are part and parcel with death and dying is a gift for both you and those you leave behind.

This four part workshop series has been developed to better prepare yourself and those you care about for life's biggest transition. Please note it is encouraged you attend all four sessions as each one builds upon the other. Attending any is better than none though!

This workshop series will cover four key areas to support you taking action to better prepare you during the end of life stage.

Saturday 14 March 10-12pm – Session 1: Get your Death ducks in a row - A starting place for the legal and logistical end of life admin.

Saturday 28 March 10-12pm – Session 2: Befriending Grief and Loss - Understanding grief and tools to tend to ours and each others.

Saturday 11 April 10-12pm – Session 3: End of Life Matters - A walk through the Advanced Healthcare Directive, the legal document that captures your medical treatment choices.

Saturday 2 May 10-12pm – Session 4: Choosing your legacy- Have a say in your send off and contemplate the gifts you leave behind.

A limited number of 1:1 follow up sessions with Erin will be made available to people who have attended all 4 workshops

Your host, Erin Griffin, hopes you leave feeling inspired by the multitude of end of life possibilities - we have more choice and control than we are led to believe! You'll also be more empowered and equipped to have conversations with the people most important to you about your unique choices and wishes for your end-of-life.

Please note Erin will be talking openly about death and dying. If you are not feeling comfortable talking about these topics, that's ok, perhaps now is not the right time for you to attend this course. These sessions are for general information only.
