This year’s free public lecture will be introduced and chaired by Associate Professor Edwin Hawkins.

The topic is Immunology: Immunotherapy to treat human diseases, which will be discussed by three of Australia’s top immunologists:

Professor Robyn O'Hehir, Monash University: "Epidemic Thunderstorm Asthma: averting another strike with allergen immunotherapy"

Professor Tom Kay, St Vincent's Institute of Medical Research: "Treatment of juvenile diabetes without insulin injections"

Doctor Shahneen Sandhu, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre: "Immunotherapy: Shifting Paradigms of Cancer Treatment"

The public lecture will be followed by a Q&A session and refreshments.

A vaccination cafe will also be held on the 27th of April as part of the Day of Immunology program.

If you are interested in seeing immunology in action nine medical research institutes and universities are opening their doors to the public during April. For more information on Day of Immunology plus a full listing of events, visit our website or follow us on twitter, facebook or instagram!
