Our next dinner Party will be dedicated to 'The Day of the Dead' Mexico’s most famous holiday. The Day of the Dead, is a day to celebrate, remember and prepare special dishes and drinks in honour of those who have departed. We believe that on this day they descend to come and visit us. Hence we have to be prepared for their arrival with all the things that they liked to eat and drink.
For this occasion we have designed a menu with very traditional foods, like the iconic ‘Mole’ which, for this day, is very common to serve. We will also make Pan de Muerto (Bread of the Dead) plus other delicacies.
As always, the dinner party will start with appetisers and you will see how tortillas are made. You can even try to make your own.
Panucho. Thick tortilla filled with refried beans topped with chicken in adobo, shredded cabbage, pickled onions and habanero salsa
Tostada de Pulpo. Octopus ceviche served with a blue corn crispy flat tortilla
Tamales. Steamed parcels of corn dough wrapped in corn husk stuffed with poblano chilli strips, cheese and a rich tomato sauce.
Mole with chicken. Smooth dark sauce made with dried chillies, spices, nuts and cacao. Served with poached chicken breast
Mexican chocolate ice cream and bread of the dead
Beer and wine will be available for you to purchase to accompany your meal. We will be offering local beer and wine from our friends from Minko Wines, including their Blanc de Blancs, featured in this years Adelaide Review's Hot 100 Wines of South Australia.
We will provide traditional non-alcoholic beverages and water as part of the menu.
So come feast and drink with us!
